Significance: This is an important report that we investigated influenza DIG against avian and pandemic influenza virus. Moreover, we developed a novel high-efficient gene delivery vector for gene delivery in the lung airway to significantly inhibit SARS-CoV-2 Delta and Omicron variant replication in hamsters.

Significance: This is the first report that a basic human-defensin peptide could show potent antiviral activity by inhibiting viral entry, fusion and release. The application of inhibiting viral release could be used for blocking viral transmission.
